Welcome to St. Catherine’s Nursing Home & Retirement Village in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. We are a private nursing home a well known provider of care and highly recommended by its local people.
We strive to uphold and promote the autonomy and quality of life for everyone who lives here. Every resident here is unique and we respect and value each individual for who they are. This forms our ethos one which we live by in this beautiful setting in its own private grounds in the heart of Newcastle West.
We are fortunate to be located and linked in to the local community where we are supported by passionate volunteering, pastoral care and regular mass at our residence. What makes us so special is our dedicated staff, care team and our total awareness of the needs of residents and their family members.
Central to this is our tailor made resident centered care approach. This contributes to our motto “creating a home away from home for our much loved residents”.

Our excellent staff are trained to the very highest standards providing 24 hour care in a professional and friendly manner. We provide the highest standard of care driven by our philosophy that each staff member provides the same level of care that they would want for their own loved ones.
Resident Services & Facilities
We offer Residential, High Dependency, Convalescence and Respite Care. We want our residents to experience a quality of life that is as close to possible to the warm and secure environment that they are accustomed to in their own home. Some of our Services and Activities include Physiotherapy, Exercise classes, Music, Gardening and Religious services.
Peaceful Surroundings in a Central Location
We are based just off Newcastle West’s town centre in a location that previously housed St. Catherine’s Convent of Mercy. Now it’s a modern purpose built nursing featuring luxury en suite bedrooms, spacious lounges and dining areas – many of which overlook our flower filled courtyard and garden.
